BEATRIZ CANFIELD

Mexico City, 1972

Mexican sculptor and visual artist, graduate from the National Painting, Sculpture and Engraving School "La Esmeralda" in CDMX.

Her work include a wide spectrum of registers that include as main activity the Sculpture but also the art video installations, photography, performance and, recently the experimentation with pyrotechnics and the concept of perishable performatic sculpture, in which the object as such, disappear with applied techniques and the remains are exhaustively recorded as images and videos.

Has also created monumental sculptures for public spaces in Mexico and Switzerland, country where she lived from 2009 to 2016 and where she presented several individual and collective work,; she also opened the alternative gallery "Zone 30 Art Public" in Sierre, on 2015, still active.

Mexico, Switzerland, Spain, France and England are some of the countries that've hosted some of her work.

She have worked in several curatorial projects, as multidisciplinary workshops and courses, all around the visual arts. She also has jury visual art contests in Mexico and overseas.

Active member of the National Art Creators System, from FONCA.

In this project, the pyrotechnical elements are used to create images of great power and beauty. Cleanliness and mildness  of movement, Canfield's oeuvre merge the beauty in the eye with the snappy nature of fireworks.
